Weekly NHHEU update

Today we met with members of the negotiations team to discuss how the negotiations process has progressed and where we all want it to go.  We will be meeting on a weekly basis for the foreseeable future to work towards breaking the impasse that has held your next contract back.

We would like to have representatives from each campus so that every members needs and concerns are met.  We understand time and distance requirements can be a major deterrent to volunteering for the position so we would be willing to conference call distant members into each meeting or make alternate locations available on occasion.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the negotiating team and you are a faculty member at either the Nashua or White Mountain location please contact me.

In concerns to your contract, nothing has changed other than your representative.  Your contract still provides you all the protections that you had 2 weeks ago and it is still in evergreen status.  In concerns to negotiations, we are not starting at the beginning.  Agreements that have already been made will remain.  We will continue to work towards closing the gap where agreements currently do not exist.

Our first order of business was to sit down with the negotiating team and move that process forward.  We have been reaching out to all campus Presidents, Chancellor Gittell, and human Resources and setting up meetings with them as well.  As part of that same process we are scheduling meetings at each campus location to meet with you all to answer questions, introduce ourselves, and hand out some paperwork.   In the upcoming weeks we will be at your campus.  We ask that you have patience with the process, but if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

We are eager to work with leadership at each college.  In order to do that you will need to choose your representatives.  Each chapter/unit should have a President, Vice President, and Recording Secretary.  We would normally have a mailed ballot for these positions, but in order to speed the process up we will adjust it initially.  If you are interested in holding either one of those positions I ask that you send me your name.  Ballots will then be put together and members will be able to vote at each location for their representatives.

We also will have a seat on our Executive Board for a faculty member.  Our Executive Board oversees the financial and direction of the local.  We meet on the first Wednesday of every month between 1-3:30 pm.  If you are interested in this seat please contact me.

Stewards will be needed at each location. I have the current list of stewards at each location.  At this point you will need 1 more steward in Concord, Nashua, and Manchester.  We will be holding a steward training in the near future to discuss grievances and related issues.  If you are interested in becoming a steward, please contact me.
