FAQ

I'm already a member, do I have to fill out anything?  With the change of representation, you must fill out the "Dues Deduction Authorization" card to remain a full member.  As a full member, you have rights to attend union meetings, vote on faculty and union representation, vote on contracts, and other union rights.  The remaining documents are explained below.

What is the "Dues Deduction Authorization" card? A signed dues deduction authorization card signifies that you are a full member of NHHEU with all rights and privileges of a union member.

What is the "COPE check off authorization" card?  We do not use any membership money for political contributions, lobbying, or political activity.  Anything politically related is funded solely by voluntary member contributions.  Monies spent on political activities are presented to and voted on by a COPE committee which will be staffed by NHHEU faculty and IBEW members.  We only entertain funding political activity that is directly related to labor or Community College System issues. Signing the COPE card and inputting an amount you want deducted from each paycheck signifies that you want to donate to this fund.

What is the application for membership? This paper should to be signed by full and agency fee members.  It provides us with your basic contact information for our records.  Under "classification" please write "education", and under "Industry where you are employed" please check "other".

What is the W-9 form? The W-9 form is an accounting mechanism used by our international office to ensure all records are correctly processed and recorded.  In "Box 3" check off "individual".
